First meeting of the #Pact4Youth project

Spain hosts the start of Erasmus+ project for the employability of young people in the construction sector

On March 7 and 8, the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción and the Confederación Nacional de la Construcción organized the kick-off meeting of the #Pact4Skills project, co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme, at their facilities in Madrid. During the two days, the Spanish entities have received partners from Greece (U Studies and Pedmede Somateio), Italy (Formedil and Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili) and Cyprus (Kentro Ekpaideysis “O O Oikodomos” K.E.P.O. LTD and Omospondia SyndesmonErgolavon Oikodomon Kyprou -OSEOK-) to address the first steps of the European initiative on its way to attract young people to the construction sector.

During the meeting, the good practices undertaken by the consortium’s institutions in their respective countries to attract young people to the construction sector were presented and the results of the initiative were discussed:

  • Roadmap and action plan to improve the employability of young people in the sector.
  • Key organizations in the sector signed up.
  • Cooperation agreements between SMEs and VET centers.
  • Intermediation services and support measures for young people and SMEs.
  • Identification and activation of professional references to attract young people to the sector.
  • Public-private working groups to promote the employability of young people.
  • Awareness, communication and dissemination campaigns on employment in construction, aimed at SMEs and young people.
  • Innovation events aimed at SMEs.
  • Practical training sessions on construction activities aimed at young people.
