Learn more about the sector
The construction sector is currently a source of innovation, continuously adopting new techniques and technology to improve productivity and quality. Innovation is prevalent throughout the whole construction process, from cutting-edge building materials to innovative construction methods like 3D printing or modular building systems. In addition, the sector promotes an environmentally conscious perspective that integrates sustainable practices. It is actively moving towards a low-carbon industry by putting ‘green’ values into place, incorporating renewable energy sources and giving priority to eco-friendly design.
The transition towards a greener and more sustainable economy, together with digitalisation, is creating significant opportunities in the construction industry. The implementation of policies such as the EU Green Deal and the Renovation Wave highlight the need for workers with specific skills to meet these objectives.
.
The demand for construction workers with skills in energy efficiency, sustainable construction techniques, renewable energy knowledge and the ability to use digital technologies is increasing. Training and education are key to equipping current and future workers with the skills needed to take advantage of the new job opportunities. Specialised training programmes, skills upgrading and collaboration between industry and training providers are essential to ensure that the workforce is prepared to meet the challenges and contribute to the transition to a greener economy.
