The ‘Pact4Youth’ project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, supports the EU Pact for Skills and its main objective is to lay the foundations for promoting the employability of young people in the construction sector.
Around 50 young people had the opportunity to participate in the masterclasses offered through the ‘Pact4Youth’ project in different Italian cities. The first ones took place on 14th September in Bergamo and Naples, where young people could learn more about Pact4Youth and the construction sector.
During the masterclass in Bergamo, participants were given operational and workplace health and safety instructions and were challenged to create different projects, according to the structure given to them beforehand. They completed their projects within the set deadlines, while strictly respecting the indications regarding Health and Safety in the workplace.

On the other hand, in the practical day that took place in Naples, they were explained how to work with plaster and were given the opportunity to build structures with this material in order to put into practice the training they had received. This work was supervised by the trainers.
Later, on 21 September, two more practical days were held in the cities of Bari and Viterbo. In Bari, the day was attended by young students from the local construction school, who gave a demonstration on restoration.
In Viterbo, the young people were able to learn more about Health and Safety at Work. It was emphasised that the construction industry is becoming safer and safer, with the aim of making construction more attractive to young people.
Finally, the Bologna masterclass was held on 12 October. It offered the young people a practical day where they had the opportunity to build with bricks and where they could see first-hand what the work of professionals in the construction sector is like.
