The European project Pact4Youth, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, held on 10-11 September 2024 its fourth and last partner meeting at the headquarters of Κ.Ε.Π.Ο – EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION CENTER in Cyprus. During the meeting, the participants took stock of the progress achieved and defined the next steps before the closure of the project.
The meeting started with a welcome by KEPO President Christoforou and an overview of the activities carried out so far. Key aspects such as project management, the promotion of the Pact for Skills in Construction and the collection of stakeholder endorsements in the participating countries were discussed. In addition, the challenges of the sector in Cyprus were highlighted by Stelios Tsiappoutis, Secretary General of the Federation of the Cyprus Building Contractors’ Associations (OSEOK) partners of the initiative, who emphasised the need to improve job security, attract young people to the sector and ensure fair working conditions.
Another key point was the development of tools to support SMEs in apprenticeship training, the organisation of masterclasses on innovation and the production of videos with testimonials from professionals to attract young people to construction. Deadlines were also set for the realisation of events and the production of final reports.
In view of the closure of the project, the final dissemination event was confirmed to be held in Brussels on 28 November, preceded by the last consortium meeting on 27 November. These meetings will be key to share the achievements and consolidate the impact of the project in the sector.
